Our Annual Fundraising Event on April 28, 2026 was an incredible success—judging by the energy in the room, our guests had a fantastic time! A heartfelt thank-you to the City of Windsor Heights for hosting us in such a wonderful venue, and to Fidelity Bank Iowa for serving as our presenting sponsor.

Guests enjoyed an evening of wine ,artisanal cheeses, and gourmet desserts. Our lively auction gave winners a chance to experience a private plane ride, an evening in an Iowa Cubs Skybox, and amazing dining at Des Moines’ hottest new restaurants.

We raised over $20,000 - enough for us to add a fourth school to our list of participating elementary schools. And now we prepare to continue to raise the funds to continue to provide free books - one a month - to every elementary student in four Des Moines Public Schools.

In just three short years, Building Lives Through Reading Des Moines has made remarkable progress—and thanks to the support behind events like this, our future looks even brighter. By the end of this 2025-2026 school year , we will have put nearly 29,000 books into the hands of local children.
